Recommended Supplements

On this section we’ll be posting about the best and most useful supplements for the treatment of chronic diseases according to our clinical experience, our follower’s reviews  and scientific knowledge.

Curcumin: This one is the active substance of the spice called turmeric. Its effects on inflammation and its anti-tumour activity are well known. We recommend between 750 and 1500 mg of BCM-95 formulated curcumin per day taken together with the main meals. Our favourite supplement is this one.

Boswellia: As Curcumin, this plant has potent anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. It’s especially effective in inflammatory bowel diseases and arthritic conditions. We recommend taking between 300 and 500mg of pure keto-boswellic acids per day together with the main meals. Our favourite supplement is this one.

Ginger: The root extracts of this plant help with menstrual pain, gastritis and nausea. Recent research also shows that ginger extracts aid digestion. Take ginger extracts during main meals for better absortion. We recommend this supplement.

Omega-3: An imbalance of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids produces inflammation in our bodies. Supplementation with omega-3 can reverse these effects and improve cardiovascular health and reduce inflammatory cytokines. Take at least 2000 mg of EPA and DHA per day on empty stomach. Our favourite product is this one.

Vitamin D: Almost all autoimmune disease sufferers have vitamin D deficiency. In almost all chronic diseases supplementation with vitamin D reduced symptoms and prevented flare-ups. Supplement with this cheap vitamin until you reach serum levels of 70 ng/ml. Our favourite product is this one. Take your vitamin D on empty stomach together with omega-3 fatty acids for better absortion.

Devil’s Claw: This herb is especially useful in the treatment of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. In Germany, more than a half of the prescriptions for the treatment of arthritic conditions are Devil’s Claw extracts. Take this supplement together with your meals for better absortion. If you’re also using curcumin and boswellia, 1200 mg per day will be more than enough. We recommend this product.

Probiotics: Several different probiotic brands have been used in the treatment of chronic diseases. Lactic acid bacteria seem useful in the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases. Saccharomyces boulardii is useful in the treatment of IBS and some forms of IBD. Finally, soil based organisms have been used successfully in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. We also recommend Clostridium butyricum as a butyrate producing strain. Probiotic use must be individualized so we can’t post general recommendations.

Butyrate: This short chain fatty acid exerts potent anti-inflammatory activity in the colon. Butyrate is normally produced by our colonic bacteria but in cases of severe dysbiosis (IBS, IBD, SIBO, etc…) butyrate supplementation is useful. 1200 to 1800 mg of sodium butyrate are normally recommended. This one is our favourite product.

Magnesium: Almost half of the world’s population is magnesium deficient. Supplementation with 100 to 200 mg of chelated magnesium is necessary in these cases. Take your magnesium supplement between meals. We recommend this product.

Zinc: Between 15 and 20% of the world population is zinc deficient. Zinc deficiency has been linked to worse outcomes in several autoimmune conditions and zinc supplementation may even reduce Crohn’s disease relapses. Our favourite type of zinc supplement is this one.

Soluble fibers: Resistant starch, psyllium seeds and inulin feed our colonic bacteria. If you don’t have digestive problems supplement with any of these products in order to keep your healthy bacteria growing in your colon.
